Following what has been a great deal of anticipation, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class bakkie made its international debut in the Western Cape last night in its full-production garb. Motor News was in attendance at the international media event and, as you read this, we will be experiencing the vehicle from a co-driver perspective. However, the first media drives of the model are scheduled for October and we will be more enlightened after that experience to give our overall impression of the vehicle. For now, though, what we are able to share with you is that the vehicle in the metal looks, well, cohesive in that it has managed to look more distinguishable from its donor car, the Nissan Navara, with which it shares its underpinnings. What the X-Class has managed is to meld the face of its SUVs, mainly that of the GLS, with the utility of a bakkie, and the results are quite good.
