Change of guard in F1 and history takes to track at Zwartkops
Bernie Ecclestone is replaced by Chase Carey ahead of 2017 F1 season — and Zwartkops is a feast for petrol-heads this weekend
The season-opening round of the 2017 World Rally Championship (WRC), the Monte Carlo Rally, proved yet another successful event for Sebastien Ogier (M-Sport Ford Fiesta RS WRC). He finished first ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota Yaris Gazoo Racing) in second and Ott Tanak (M-Sport Ford Fiesta) in third. Sadly, the race was marred when a spectator was killed when the Hyundai i20 WRC car of Hayden Paddon crashed into the mountainside after the vehicle hit a patch of black ice. In Formula One (F1) news, Bernie Ecclestone, who has been at the helm of the sport for four decades, has relinquished his position following the announcement by Liberty Media Corporation and Delta Topco, the parent company of F1, that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of F1 from a consortium of owners.
