A wish list of 2016’s best new models
We might only be dreaming, but here are the cars of 2016 that the team would like Santa to drop off this year
It has been quite an eventful year for car launches, with the majority of new models proving good advocates of their respective segments — some more so than others. Lerato’s garage We have once again come to the end of the year and with it our last issue of the year. However, before we all go on a well-deserved break, here are the cars that truly impressed me this year and that I would gladly park in my Christmas garage. Now the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI remains the perennial hot hatch, the benchmark in its segment, and the one many a rival would like to emulate. Two years ago, the Golf VII R took the laurels as my favourite hot hatch of that year, a vehicle for all seasons really, thanks to its four-wheel drive system and turbocharged four-pot engine. It also had the company’s slick-shifting DSG gearbox, although you could also get it with a manual box.
