FEBRUARY 2015 saw domestic sales volumes of new heavy commercial vehicles over 8.5 tons register moderate improvements compared to February last year, reports the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa).The organisation says that so far this year "domestic new vehicle sales have been in line with general industry expectations and have registered modest improvements", adding that "the South African vehicle manufacturing and exporting industry is now showing clear signs of realising its full potential, particularly in respect of vehicle exports, which climbed by 35.6% compared to February 2014".While these healthy export gains predominantly reflect growing international demand for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, the resurgence of the export market within the automotive industry augurs well for both automotive manufacturers and the logistics industry.Citing the 2015-16 budget proposals and the strategic priorities of the National Development Plan, ...
