IT WAS freezing cold on Saturday when I arrived at the Expo Centre to visit the Bike, Boat and Outdoor shows. Appropriate really, because many of the people visiting were not your fair-weather bikers, skippers or fishermen. Not surprisingly the crowds grew as the day warmed up.The show had plenty for everyone and showed the sector’s increasing popularity, particularly the bike market. There were some fascinating displays of cafe racers on the BMW Motorrad, proudly displayed alongside some of the latest touring bikes and, of course, the popular GS range.Suzuki was present in almost all the halls with its range of bikes, boats and marine equipment. It had everything from commuter bikes to super bikes. It also had its imposing Intruder models as well as a number of quad bikes, which seemed to be less popular than at previous shows.Some of the biggest displays were of Chinese models with massive displays by the likes of MotoMia, Jonway and Big Boy.
