From the top of De Pakhuys pass, as the road drops out from underneath your feet, it seems like you can see the whole of the Karoo. From the heights of the Cederberg escarpment, the Tankwa and Hantam Karoo to the northeast lie before you, the Roggeveld closer by. Mountain ranges in the distance overlap like our own version of the Norwegian Fjellkjede.
Twenty minutes down the road sits the entrance to Bushmans Kloof, where your appetite for scale will be met. Zoom in or zoom out — it’s more than ever a remarkable place...
