Reserve Bank committee flags high inflation expectations despite an improved outlook

The Reserve Bank’s monetary policy committee flagged “unusually elevated” uncertainty and still-high inflation expectations as it again kept interest rates on hold on Wednesday, despite an improved inflation outlook.
As election results trickled in, governor Lesetja Kganyago cautioned against taking predictions too seriously, saying: “At the moment the only poll that matters is the one that took place yesterday. And if you wait until the counting is done your uncertainty might be removed.”..
