The sale of a portion of the government’s stake in Telkom is back on the agenda, says Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, and several buyers have approached the government with offers. While the government had previously indicated that it intended to sell its 39% stake, valued at about R13bn, it is now looking to cover only the cost of the recapitalisation of the South African Post Office, which received a transfer of R3.7bn in October.
