EXCLUSIVE: SAA CEO still not officially appointed
Serious behind-the-scenes talks are under way to try to get CEO-designate Vuyani Jarana on board at the national carrier within the next few months
The SAA board has not yet sent a letter of appointment to CEO-designate Vuyani Jarana, whose contract at Vodacom stipulates a six-month notice period. But Business Day understands that Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba wrote to the board on Thursday, giving it the go-ahead to send a letter of appointment to Jarana. In the letter, Gigaba spelt out the parameters within which the CEO-designate could be remunerated in terms of guidelines for state-owned entities. The appointment of a CEO, chief financial officer and other executives was one of 11 key performance areas that have been in place for a year that the Treasury set for the new board.
