THE PROPOSED R2.6bn acquisition of Business Connexion by Telkom may pose a threat to rivals, who have raised their concerns with the Competition Commission.Telkom is overhauling its product offering to become a one-stop shop for private and business customers, through its unit Telkom Business. The acquisition would also boost its convergence of information and technology, and its fixed and mobile services strategy.Moreover, Telkom is reviewing its business to position it for future growth to offset its declining fixed-line business.The merged entity will compete with companies such as BT, Gijima, Datacentrix and EOH.Competition Commission spokesman Mava Scott said on Tuesday that the Commission was still investigating the merger.He added that there were "various affected parties" that have raised competition concerns about the merger.
