Glencore’s payments to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have almost doubled in the past year, the natural resources company reported on Monday.

In its “payments to governments report” for 2018, produced in line with EU requirements for large extractive companies, Glencore’s payments to the DRC in 2018 shot up to $593m — a 93% increase on the $308m it paid over in 2017. ..
