Earnings at Jubilee Platinum’s chrome recovery project have doubled and the company is on the cusp of signing a toll treatment contract with a platinum producer to extract the precious metals from the Dilokong Chrome Mine tailings project.Jubilee is building a platinum and chrome recovery plant at Hernic’s chrome operations near Brits and has spent 71% of the budget so far, shelling out R137.6m for the 660,000 tonnes a year plant due to come into production in December.The Dilokong tailings project has reached steady state production in the September quarter, ramping up production 88% to 28,559 tonnes of chromite concentrate compared to the previous quarter, generating a 95% increase in earnings to nearly R28m, of which R15.9m accrued to Jubilee.Jubilee has opted to treat platinum-bearing material on site, doubling the value before sending it to a third party for toll treatment.
