SEDIBENG Iron Ore, which is developing its first mine, has one of the few rich "specks" in the Northern Cape deposits of the steel feedstock, but it faces a number of hurdles to reach its full potential.The two main nodes of the iron-ore deposits in the mineral-rich region are dominated by Anglo American subsidiary Kumba Iron Ore and the mines jointly owned by African Rainbow Minerals and Assore in Asmang.There are a number of junior companies wanting to enter the space but the remaining deposits are not of the same scale or quality."There are two large deposits and in between there are just tiny specks," said Sedibeng’s geologist Nandakumar Lakshmipathy.
