Long-term investors’ retirement savings and discretionary portfolios have been hit hard by the Covid-19 market rout.

By the sell-off’s mid-March peak, JSE investors had lost R4-trillion as fear about the economic impact and uncertainty regarding how long the virus would persist spooked markets. Investors were rightfully concerned by the pace and depth of this black swan event.
