Manufacturing is expected to take a further hit as global economic conditions continue to deteriorate, leaving no chance of a meaningful recovery in purchasing managers’ and business confidence indices in April.

The sector is the backbone of the government’s recovery plan for growth but with disruption to global supply chains because of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak and load-shedding, BNP Paribas SA expects activity to deteriorate further in the first half of 2020.
