Bidvest founder Brian Joffe has resigned from the board with immediate effect, the company said on Friday. Joffe founded the group in 1988, but had reduced his role to that of a non-executive director since the company’s restructuring a little over a year ago. He stepped down as CEO in March 2016. Joffe recently set up a new venture, Long4Life, whose sole investment to date is the purchase of the Sorbet beauty spa chain — however, other acquisitions are in the pipeline. The announcement of his resignation from the Bidvest board was made on Sens at 5pm on Friday. Bidvest shares fell 0.36% to close at R170.50 on the JSE on Friday. Long4Life was up 0.66% at R6.08.
