STATE-owned arms manufacturer Denel says it will this week reveal ground-breaking partnerships at the upcoming African Aerospace and Defence trade and exhibition show.Zwelakhe Ntshepe, acting group CEO of Denel, said on Monday that the group would use Africa’s largest defence and technology exhibition to provide information on new developments in the pipeline. The show takes place this week in Pretoria.One of agreements to be signed will be with Poly Technologies, the Chinese state-owned defence supplier, to collaborate in the local maritime sector. The agreement will cover areas such as ship repairs, shipbuilding, naval systems and marine services.Denel has been at loggerheads with the Treasury over the legality of the establishment of Denel Asia, a joint venture between Denel and VR Laser Asia, a company owned by a close associate of the Gupta family, Salim Essa.The newly created joint venture company is registered in Hong Kong.Denel executives said in Parliament last week that th...
