RCL Foods remains exposed to all the sharp edges of the SA economy — embattled consumers, high unemployment, oversupply, high feed costs and high logistics costs. Throw in the brand contagion from the listeriosis crisis in 2018 and the only bright area in the company’s results was the groceries business, whose brands include Ouma Rusks, Nola mayonnaise and Yum Yum peanut butter.
