Bidvest has appointed executive director Mpumi Madisa to head up the industrial group, making her the only black woman CEO among the Top 40 JSE-listed companies. Madisa would take over from incumbent Lindsay Ralphs, who will remain CEO until the 2021 financial year, Bidvest said on Monday. The appointment of Madisa, who has been with the group for 12 years, would ensure a smooth transition. “This is consistent with a comprehensive succession plan that was developed and has been executed over the past several years to specifically mentor and continue her preparation for the CE role,” Bidvest said. Ralphs said smooth succession planning was important to the company. “One of our key priorities is developing the next generation of leaders and Mpumi is the perfect example of this.
