Digital transformation readiness is not a top priority for SA’s business decision makers, according to a report produced by BMI-TechKnowledge (BMI-T) on behalf of global technology firm Citrix. BMI-T interviewed 329 business leaders and technical respondents from 254 companies from various sectors, including finance, manufacturing, health, education, and media and communications. Fifty-three percent of all respondents said they were investing in technologies simply for the benefit of "keeping the lights on" rather than for competitive-edge innovation, the report said. The report suggested there was a sense of complacency among the South African business community regarding investment in progressive technologies. "Companies are arguably at risk of becoming irrelevant on a global stage, as other countries surge ahead with digital transformation projects to create innovative and technology-driven businesses," BMI-T said.
