Managed and owned responsibilities include:

  • Ebitda year-on-year growth to shareholders

  • Annual business planning and budgeting:

    • Responsibility for the theatrical distribution budget and forecast requirements, which include studio budgets, independent content budgets, Africa budgets, overheads, direct costs

  • Business strategy and strategic positioning:

    • Strategic involvement with the overarching business of rights exploitation across various platforms, including but not limited to physical platforms, digital platforms and television.

  • Head of Africa operations

  • General management of all divisions and teams (marketing, publicity and sales)

  • Management of relationships with existing studios, licensors and producers, on a day to day level, alongside marketing, sales and executive input

  • High-level negotiations with exhibitors as well as service providers to the business such as media buying agencies, international service providers (DCU) etc

  • Together with the MD – content acquisition, licensing, distribution:

    • Strategic involvement with the overarching business of rights exploitation across various platforms, including but not limited to physical platforms, digital platforms and television.

    • To include major studios, independent producers and content suppliers and other content providers

  • Business intelligence and analytics

  • System and technology feasibility and assessment

Competencies and attributes

  • Negotiation skills: Capable of negotiating with a number of partners in theatrical distribution arena for the best outcome for the business

  • Commercial acumen: Understanding of key commercial drivers that affect the business with an ability to provide solutions to commercial issues within the business

  • Leadership and vision: Driver to innovate and motivate to ensure the business is differentiated in the market

  • People management: Motivate teams and partners

  • Analytical and strategic thinking: Capacity to define, drive and deliver the strategy for the business together with applied thinking and sound judgment

  • Consumer insight: Insight into the market dynamics and consumer needs within the movie-going space in the market

  • Expertise: Understanding of the cinema-going market and experience
