University of Stellenbosch filed R37m claim against Roux for alleged financial mismanagement when he was Maties Rugby Club president THE University of Stellenbosch will oppose an application to provide essential information to beleaguered South African Rugby Union (Saru) CEO Jurie Roux in the Western Cape High Court today.In June last year, the university filed a R37m claim against Roux for alleged financial mismanagement when he was president of the Maties Rugby Club from 2002 to 2010.According to Roux’s lawyer, Frikkie Erasmus, they asked for supporting documentation after the issue of summons from the university last June.The documentation has not been supplied.Roux is being sued after auditing firm KPMG was hired by the university to undertake a forensic audit of the Matie Rugby Club’s financial dealings. The audit was completed in late 2013.The audit report found that from 2002 to 2012, about R21m was transferred irregularly from the university’s reserve funds to the rugby club...
