The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has recently been launched in SA to rival the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type, writes Lerato Matebese WHEN Mercedes-Benz launched its first in-house designed and built supercar, the SLS AMG, following a collaboration with McLaren to build the SLR in 2003, the entire industry sat up and took notice.The SLS AMG was in 2010 commissioned to be the vehicle to take on some of the thoroughbred sportscars and exotics from British, Italian and German stables, so it had a lot resting on its shoulders. It featured gullwing doors, a long bonnet and short rear, and had a retro hot-rod look about it.
