Insimbi Refractory & Alloy Supplies, which moved from the JSE's AltX to the main board last month , is investigating new products and technology that will provide long-term growth. Commercial director Fred Botha says Insimbi's established markets in the steelmaking, automotive, paper and cement industries in SA are mature, but there are at least two new areas which could offer considerable potential.The most exciting is the newly established company, Insimbi Nano Milling, which has been testing and developing micronisation technology. Micronisation means milling alloys into extremely small particles, with application in paints and coatings to add durability and offer a cost-effective replacement for the more expensive titanium dioxide used in premium products.A second opportunity the company is looking at is supplying different additives - either steel fibres or polypropylene - to reinforce readymix concrete for major contracts such as the St Helena airport or the Mashai...
