He told a gathering in Bushbuckridge,in Mpumalanga, that African National Congress leaders had to be held to their commitments, The Times newspaper reported on Monday.
"Anybody who promised you the university and never acted must never be a friend of the people of Mpumalanga because he promised you lies. He only wanted votes," Malema reportedly said.
"And now 2014 is coming and we'll be having another round of elections and there is no university," he said.
In his state of the nation address, Zuma said R300 million would be allocated to build universities in Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape.
Malema also told the crowd to invade Nelspruit and demand that the university be built.
Referring to his possible suspension, Malema said former president Nelson Mandela and his generation had also been regarded as disrespectful.
"They were impatient and wanted change now... Even if some of us can be expelled from the organisation, do not be afraid," he said.

Malema must be fired finish and klaar. This is the first time in my whole life i hear an ANC member who claim to love the organisation campaigning against it. Any disciplined member of the party will tell you that you remain loyal even if things don't go your way, but what Malema is doing is way out of line and against the culture and traditions of the party. I never thought that an ANC member can encourage the masses to protest against the very same party he claims to belong to, let alone to call the leadership of the party liers. It is time for Motlanthe, who everyone believes he's a man of principles to come out clean and tell the country on which side is he. How can a principled man who is respected by the majority of the membership of the party be supporting this kind of behaviour? If he is not, then he must not be afraid to say it in public, but knowing what a coward he is, he will not want to upset Malema as his hopes of becoming the next president are pined on him. As for people like Matthews Phosa, people should be reminded that this is the same man who has always had ambitions to become a president. His attempts to challenge former president Mbeki at one stage failed, now he sees a last opportunity to try again, and what better way to do that than to support Malema in an attempt to get himself nominated for deputy presidency under Motlanthe, which will eventually paves him a way to realise his long held dream of becoming a state president. That's why the real ANC supporters must not be suprised by the atturances he is reported to have made in Limpopo about Malema's charges and the decision by National Government to place five departments in Limpopo under administration. The man is just desperate to become the president and he will do everything to appease Malema's supporters. This is opportunistic at its best.
