11.48 ------ Why the ANC can't hear Mthembu's primal scream Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu has wondered aloud why the entire ANC national executive committee should not resign. He has, for several weeks, been less and less tolerant of the party's strange politics, most recently forcing the Speaker to accept custody of Thuli Madonsela's state capture report after Parliament initially said it could not do so lest it be forced to table it to MPs. (And, apparently, MPs are not to be trusted with a report from a chapter nine institution.) His latest remarks take him even further out on a limb. Observing that the party did not blame any individual for its recent electoral slump, Mthembu drew the obvious conclusion - that the entire executive should then accept responsibility and quit.
