Vytjie Mentor wants her voice heard on state capture report
The former ANC MP asks in an affidavit to be listed as a respondent in the case and for Jacob Zuma’s application to halt the release of the report to be dismissed
President Jacob Zuma‚ who already faces stiff opposition from several political parties to his court bid to halt the release of the public protector’s "state capture" report, now faces another opponent in the form of Vytjie Mentor. The outspoken former ANC MP has filed papers with the High Court in Pretoria, in which she seeks to intervene in the case. She caused a sensation in March with her allegations that the politically connected Gupta family had offered her the job of public enterprises minister in 2010, on condition that she cancelled South African Airways routes to India. Mentor was also among witnesses interviewed by former public protector Thuli Madonsela in her investigation into state capture. Mandonsela’s report is currently under lock and key at the offices of her successor‚ Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
