The "threat of damage" from #FeesMustFall protests has prompted the National Library of SA to close its Pretoria campus. "We cannot risk opening the library under the current situation‚" CEO Rocky Ralebipi-Simela said on Monday. "We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any change of decision‚ should we be convinced that the threat of damage to the library has been averted." The library said protest action in the past week had threatened it, its collections and library users. Ralebipi-Simela said the library was the "primary resource and custodian of SA’s documentary heritage" and promoted creative‚ effective and efficient universal access to information.
