Weather service warns of severe thunderstorms
But warns that this summer’s rainfall is unlikely to be enough to break the drought

The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for severe thunderstorms in parts of Gauteng‚ the North West‚ Mpumalanga and the Free State. Forecaster Wayne Venter said this week’s thunderstorms marked the beginning of the summer rainy season. However, he said the rainfall expected this summer was unlikely to be enough to break the country’s drought. "[The rain is] very normal for this time of the year.
