Cabinet noted that President Jacob Zuma had received and accepted resignations from two SABC board members, Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe told reporters on Thursday. He also confirmed that Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications had taken its first steps into an inquiry on the SABC board’s fitness to hold office. This followed a recent marathon meeting between the committee and the board to discuss its management of the public service broadcaster. On Thursday the DA claimed that it had been reliably informed that SABC head of corporate affairs Hlaudi Motsoeneng planned to offer staff members an extra R10,000 to mollify them amid a storm over his conduct during his time as chief operations officer (COO).
