South African futures were softer on Wednesday on a weaker JSE and European bourses. Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s medium-term budget policy statement revealed that revenue collection fell R23bn short of what was projected in the February budget — R12.5bn of this in personal income tax and R8bn in value-added tax (VAT).
