Futures tracked the JSE a little lower on Thursday as the bourse had broad losses, platinum stocks faring worst. The all share closed 0.16% weaker at 51,420.70 points and the top 40 lost 0.16%. The platinum index closed 2.47% lower after the platinum price shed 1.40% to $930.16 an ounce. The gold index eased 0.65% and general retailers 0.56%. Global sentiment was largely negative as the Brent crude price had by 5.52pm lost 2.17% to $51.49 a barrel on profit-taking. At 5.45pm, the Dow Jones industrial average was 0.14% lower at 18,176.25 points. At the same time, the local near-dated top-40 Alsi futures index was 0.07% lower at 45,336 points, with 17,558 contracts traded from 20,458 on Wednesday.
