JUSTICE MALALA: A night on the town
If you need to take a break from politicians’ shenanigans, you could do worse than getting your kicks at the friendly local in Clarens
How time flies! It’s been a year since President Jacob Zuma told us Nhlanhla Nene was off to the Brics bank, but that turned out to be pie in the sky. Or a straight porky. A year later it seems funny, but it’s actually not. We have learnt one or two sobering things since those heady days: David Des van Rooyen, the weekend special minister, took economics lessons for seven straight days at the Gupta house in Saxonwold before he was appointed. We also know our president believes he did the right thing in appointing Van Rooyen. He told parliament that the man is the most qualified finance minister we have ever had. Yeah, right — perhaps qualified to pass some cash and tenders to the president’s friends.
