Montblanc's €1.4m pen
Written in the stars: limited edition pen is particularly stellar, with its price tag in the heavens
Before branching into high-end fashion and accessories, the Montblanc label was noted for its fine pens. And its latest range is particularly stellar, drawing inspiration from and paying homage to Johannes Kepler, the famous European astronomer who worked in the early 1600s. Kepler’s book, De Stella Nova in Pede Serpentarii, which indicated the location of the supernova on the foot of the Ophiuchus constellation, inspired Montblanc’s High Pede Serpentari Limited Edition pens of gold skeletonised overlay set in a deep blue lacquer. The constellation map and stars are represented by white pavé diamonds, lapis lazuli and coloured gemstones. All of this sets its price tag in the heavens — €1.4m.
