Cabinet forms high level e-tolling committee

A dollar short and a day late!

They should have done this years ago when planning the scandal of the toll-scam.

Sorry for you! - tolls on urban highways can never be allowed - and it is the people, not some committee or even the woeful SA govt. which will decide.

Clearly these morons still fail to understand that this issue has the potential to burn this country.

Call to probe e-tolls 'link' to arms deal companies

It is about time that the media picked up on this fact and being hammering at it!

How appalling that the names of known wrongdoers in the arms deal are once again involved in major government contracts in SA!

Who are the people in government who sanctioned the deal, who knowingly did business again with known corrupt entities?

The true facts of the e-toll deal will become known in time - and I believe will rival the Arms Deal scandal!

Road freight body enters e-toll fray

I am optimistic that on this issue South Africans will stand together and defeat the tolls.

COSATU has called for mass action on 30 April and one action called for is to gather at the toll points in numbers - I will be doing this and will help block roads as necessary.

We will bring Gauteng to a halt on that day and woe betide anyone who tries to interfere - the mood is ugly.

E-toll saga deepens, Fedusa sends Zuma open letter

I personally advocate a charge of treason against Nazi Alli and company. What he proposes will impoverish hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of South African citizens.

When done on such a scale, this act is treasonous.

Battle looms over shock move to ban liquor ads

How very interesting - and very stupid of the liquor industry!

When cigarette adverts were banned a few years ago and ludicrous restrictions placed on cigarette use, the liquor industry sat on it's hands, mute.

At that time, the government made it pretty obvious that the next target for restrictions in advertising and useage would be liquor, so why the 'shock' now?

Fact is that we all must unite to fight this totalitarian government whenever it proposes restrictions which are unjustifed, as are those in smoking and on liquor. it is not acceptable to stand aside saying 'it does not affect me", for the simple reason that, soon something will be proposed that does affect you directly, and for governments it is always easier the second time around!

Gauteng tolling given the green light (With Audio)

I see we are now being barraged with propaganda to try to make us believe that the tolls are a 'good thing' for this country and that we should not resist them!

No Sir - these tolls must be scrapped in their entirety and the gantries torn down - whether that tearing down should happen in an orderly way or otherwise!

As law-abiding citizens we have every right to vehemently protest this imposition, which will have the effect of driving up prices of everything (incl. fuel!) and in fact of making life impossible for many who have no alternative but to use the highways to make their living.

Our effective protest action is simple and involves no risk - simply boycott e-tags, the contract for which has already been declared declared unconstitutional and in breach of the CPA.

By doing so we will render the entire SANRAL business model financially unviable. They cannot possibly run their system except with our meek acquiescence in allowing them to bill us immediately and cheaply by electronic debits against our bank accounts.

The government consulted none of use when they decided to blow billions upgrading roads which did not need upgrading - let them find a better way to finance that mistake. Maybe sending fewer jets to shadow Zuma on his next overseas trips, or having fewer publicly-funded jollies might help!

The name 'Dick Turpin' comes to mind - he was a famous highwayaman, a robber who robbed innocent travellers on the roads of 18th century England - they hanged him by the neck until dead - let us hang this government sanctioned robbery by making sure their scheme is hanged!

I understand COSATU has a protest in the form of a stayaway or strike against the tolls scheduled for March 7th! This is what they have said:

"Tolling forces drivers to pay huge amounts of extra money just to travel on the province's highways. Workers will face having to pay out thousands or hundreds of extra rands every month just to travel to and from work. Consumers face massive price increases as a result of the extra cost of transporting goods to the shops being passed on to the shoppers.

We urge the cabinet to take note of the mass opposition to these tolls and instruct Sanral to abandon them for good. Meanwhile we continue to urge motorists not to register with Sanral or buy e-tags, and our members remain mobilised for a campaign of mass action if e-tolling is not scrapped. The federation calls upon government to prioritise the roll-out of efficient, reliable, affordable and safe public transport for all the people of South Africa."

DO NOT BUY AN E-TAG! - this is all that is required to collapse this iniquitous and rapacious scheme.

E-tolling 'has many positives' (With Video)

Remember that stupid movie 'Dumb and Dumber"? Is this a transcript of the movie?

I have never heard such a pathetic, retarded, loser argument in my life!

I use the roads affected by the GFIP - and there is no time saving as a result of their having a smoother surface than they used to have.

How can time be saved by now paying for something we have enjoyed for years and which has already been paid for many times over and which we continue to pay for from our vehicle and driver licence fees and road fund levy?

The idiot must be in the pay of SANRAL.

Motorists - just refuse to buy an e-tag and watch the entire SANRAL business model collapse in a heap of sh!t!
08 November, 2011

Toll fees start in February

I will neither be buying an e-tag nor will I register an account for my vehicle.

The only way to bring this iniquitous highway robbery to an end is to fail to comply with these requirements. Compliance means that you have accepted the principal of tolls and are now prepared to accede to whatever demands SANRAL will in future come up with, and indeed whatever increases in toll tariffs they may decide to impose!
07 November, 2011

E-toll registration starts today

The way to stop this daylight robbery is NOT to buy an e-tag!

Since the viability of the entire tolling system relies entirely on immediate and cheap electronic cash collection, hot having e-tags will bring the entire plan to it's knees in short order.

Force SANRAL to carry out identification of your vehicle and issuance of hundreds of thousands of invoices each month - then to chase up these piffling amounts!

They will collapse under the administrative burden - let's make it happen, you know it's the right thing to do!

Cosatu 'shocked' at rising open tolls costs

I am 100% behind COSATU on this issue - the blatant privatisation of infrastructure that WE have already paid for and continue to pay for via fuel and other taxes, is entirely unacceptable.

Note the vote box at top right of this page - we see that 66% of people say that they will NOT buy an e-tag and will use the roads anyway.

This is the form of protest that will bring the system of billing and cash flow , and therefore the entire open-road toll concept to a shuddering halt very quickly. The system relies entirely on immediate and cheap electronic payment, in advance through e-tags - without this, and when invoices have to be sent and payment chased it cannot work.

Do not buy an e-tag - you know it's the right thing to do!

SA lacks black industrialists: Zuma

" It is better to remain silent and be thought fool, than to speak and confirm it"

The 'country' did not build the factories and large industrial enterprises, except for a very few state owned assets and it will not succeed in developing them in future. It was people with vision and a desire for profits, using investment funds from their own and other private sources who did this, as in all free market economies.

If blacks want to enter this arena in numbers, they need simply to follow the examples all around us - that often involves risking everything they have whilst relying on their own business acumen, along with a massive determination and a huge drive to succeed against all odds.

Perhaps that is asking too much? Perhaps they expect government to provide everything on a no risk basis, at the expense of the taxpayer?
