The wealth table for the Rich List reflects the disclosed holdings of JSE-listed companies‘ directors as at November 30th 2016. The Rich List research was compiled by Who Owns Whom for Sunday Times. Christo Wiese is the wealthiest man in the country with R81.26-billion, according to Who Owns Whom's Rich List, which compiled for Business Times, for the second consecutive year after unseating Glencore CEO Ivan Glasenberg in 2014. Ironically, Weise is also the biggest loser — after the value of his shareholdings, in for example, Brait, Shoprite and Steinhoff International to name a few, fell by R23.5-billion from a year ago.
