It is helpful at times of crisis to survey the big picture and articulate the options for change available to voters. As things stand, they would appear to be the following: 1. ANC rebirth and rejuvenation Led by the likes of Save SA (real name: Save the ANC), there is a push for the resignation of President Jacob Zuma, seen as the epicentre of the party’s contemporary decay. With that, a new leadership and, with that in turn, a rebirth defined by the eradication of internal corruption, nepotism and service delivery failure. Supplemented by the likes of former president Thabo Mbeki, who has argued real change would necessitate the resignation of the entire executive, this option is entirely ANC-centric. In other words, it is defined by the belief that only the ANC can restore a sense of direction and progress to SA.
