ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe skirted around the controversy surrounding Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas, after President Jacob Zuma recalled them from an international investment tour without any explanation. Speaking at the post-NEC meeting on Monday‚ Mantashe said they were not aware of why Zuma made the 11th-hour recall. "That is a Cabinet matter. We don’t know how it is done‚" he said. Mantashe said he did not know whether it was related to permission being sought for the trip.
