The Cabinet has approved the Cybercrimes and Cybersecurity Bill for introduction into Parliament. The bill aims to establish the capacity to deal with cybersecurity and to protect critical information infrastructures. The absence of such a law has been cited by cybercrime experts as contributing to the vulnerability of these infrastructures. Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe said at a post-Cabinet media briefing on Friday that the Traditional Courts Bill had also been adopted for introduction into Parliament. It will regulate the role and functions of traditional leaders in the resolution of disputes in line with constitutional principles. Radebe said the bill would improve access to justice services for all. He said extensive consultations had taken place on it and the Cabinet was "fairly confident" the bill addressed all the issues raised.
