The Department of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs have finally tabled their annual reports for the 2015-16 financial year, albeit well beyond September, when the bulk of department reports came to the legislature. While the Department of Environmental Affairs recently tabled its annual report after it resolved its disagreements with Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu, Home Affairs tabled its annual report on Monday, allowing it to be available on Tuesday. In September, Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa wrote to Parliament saying she would be challenging the qualified audit opinion her department received from the auditor-general for 2015-16. After discussions with the department, Makwetu agreed to adjust the audit opinion from a qualified audit to an unqualified audit with findings.
