Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane on Thursday said she will focus on serving people in the margins of society. Mkhwebane was speaking on the sidelines of an event commemorating 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children in Khayelitsha‚ Cape Town. At the event she announced plans to invest more time and resources to raise awareness about the potential of her office to make a positive change in the lives of the poor‚ especially when it came to service delivery. Earlier this week she outlined her vision her management team during a two-day strategic planning session in Pretoria. Those at the event in Khayelitsha raised several grievances about police conduct‚ the processing of applications for low-cost housing and illegal electricity connections.
