Letter to Jacob Zuma was not meant for the public, says Thabo Mbeki Foundation
If it was intended as an open letter, there would have been no need to hand-deliver it to Gwede Mantashe at Luthuli House, says the foundation
Thabo Mbeki’s letter to President Jacob Zuma following the release of the state capture report was not meant to be made public and was leaked, the former president’s foundation said on Monday. This comes after Zuma, who was attending a rally in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend, reportedly criticised Mbeki and the 101 ANC veterans who had raised concerns, without naming them. Speaking in Dumbe, Zuma reportedly hit out at those who did not want to do ANC work but criticised from afar. This was seen as a veiled reference to Mbeki, who did not campaign for the ANC ahead of the August local government elections. The letter, written by Mbeki in his personal capacity, was sent to Zuma on November 1 and related to matters raised by 101 ANC veterans.
