The DA in Tshwane has experienced a whiff of internal ructions with a long-serving official leaving the party, citing issues with the candidates’ list during the local government elections, along with a lack of political will and a centralised leadership. The party dismissed the charges by Lex Middelberg as nothing but sour grapes and said he had been facing internal disciplinary charges. On Friday, Middelberg, a former ward 91 councillor and previously shadow member of the mayoral committee for finance, resigned from the DA, which he had served since its formation. "I took a principled decision to leave because we were on a road to nowhere, I’m on a road to nowhere in the DA," he said.
