Questions about the credibility of the so-called state capture report have cropped up in Parliament even before its release. Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane made her debut appearance in Parliament on Wednesday leading a delegation to brief members of the justice and correctional services portfolio committee on her office’s annual report for 2015-16. Inevitably the state capture report took centre stage. "I heard the report was actually put together by a consultant. She must tell us the name of the consultant," said ANC MP Bongani Bongo. "Was he or she vetted? How can consultants be held accountable? This also speaks to the issue of irregular expenditure." Mkhwebane confirmed the report was prepared by consultants from PwC. Mkhwebane said she would release the contentious report only after all the court processes had been concluded.
