JUDICIAL Service Commission (JSC) interviews began on Monday morning, with the commission looking to fill one vacancy on the KwaZulu-Natal High Court. The commission will interview for judges all week, but Tuesday will be the big day, when four candidates will be interviewed for the Constitutional Court. Candidates to be interviewed on Monday morning are Prof Karthy Govender, magistrate Sitembiso Maphumulo, and senior advocates Fazal Moola SC and Ian Topping SC. In the afternoon, the JSC will seek to recommend a judge to the Electoral Court. There are two candidates: current incumbent Willem Wepener and Johannesburg High Court Judge Colin Lamont. The Constitutional Court candidates to be interviewed on Tuesday are Supreme Court of Appeal justices Ronnie Bosielo, Stevan Majiedt and Malcolm Wallis, and Gauteng High Court judge Jody Kollapen.
