It is an Alfa Romeo SUV! Yes, you read that right, the sporty Italian brand has finally thrown caution to the wind and has concrete plans afoot to join the biggest-growing car market — that of high-riding vehicles — with its Stelvio SUV. Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, the Stelvio is the second model after the Giulia to be built on the company’s new platform. The two models share engines, which in the instance of the Stelvio will include a 2.0l turbo unit and the 2.9l V6 twin-turbo fitted to the flagship Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) model. "The all-new Stelvio, named after one of the greatest driving roads in the world — the Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps — sets a new benchmark for the segment," says Reid Bigland, head of Alfa Romeo.
