CONVENERS of SA’s most coveted car of the year competition — the Wesbank/South African Guild of Motoring Journalists Car of the Year — announced earlier this week the 10 finalists who will vie for the prestigious competition in the first quarter of 2017.The finalist were announced during a reveal at The Country Club Johannesburg in Woodmead hosted by WesBank, the competition’s headline sponsor, and the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ). The announcement of the top 10 follows a vote cast by a 28-member jury elected by their peers of an original list of 35 eligible vehicle ranges.As depicted by the list on the page, next year’s finalists represent an interesting cross-section of the market, ranging from medium executive sedans to an unprecedented number of crossovers and SUVs.
