Standard Bank has acquired a majority stake in the developer of mobile payment service SnapScan, a company called Firepay, for an undisclosed amount, it said on Friday. In two years, SnapScan has grown into a national network of more than 32,000 merchants, Standard Bank said. The acquisition does not mean SnapScan will be limited to Standard Bank customers.
