The finalists of the 2017 Liberty Radio Awards were announced last week. Lance Rothschild, Liberty Radio Awards CEO, says the awards are designed to acknowledge the talent and innovation that exist in the radio broadcasting space, with the underlying intent to maintain and elevate the quality. Since being established in 2011 the awards have been known for their credibility and transparency. “Nearly all South Africans – 91% – interact with radio on a weekly basis, more than any other media category,” reports Rothschild. “These awards are intended to motivate radio people and organisations to raise the bar constantly in terms of their performance, with a firm focus on keeping their listeners engaged and happy.” This is the first year that Liberty has sponsored the Radio Awards. “Liberty has spent the past 60 years building a legacy of changing the realities of millions of South Africans and pioneering financial freedom for them,” says Sydney Mbhele, chief marketing officer of the Libe...
