The good rains in Johannesburg this week‚ which are filling up dam levels‚ will not lead to a swift suspension of water restrictions. Johannesburg Water said on Friday that the national Department of Water and Sanitation was expected to review restrictions in May. Thanks to the rains‚ the Vaal Dam was 88.48% full on Friday morning. Gauteng Weather reported the same‚ saying the Vaal Dam’s level had risen by 6.84 percentage points in the past 24 hours alone‚ reaching two-year highs. The dam is expected to hit the 90% mark by early Friday afternoon. At the same time‚ residents are being warned of flooding due to high soil moisture and ongoing storm activity over the province. The Western Cape‚ however‚ is bone dry and the city is pleading with residents to conserve as much as they can. Dam levels are at 24.5% of usable water. TMG Digital
